Agendado para 27 de outubro, o álbum ‘Solar’ também traz Edgar, Hamilton de Holanda, Max de Castro, Metá Metá, Tiganá Santana e Xênia França.

♪ Artista associado à corrente vanguardista do jazz, o compositor, pianista, arranjador e maestro norte-americano Herman Poole Blount (22 de maio de 2014 – 30 de maio de 1993) – imortalizado com o nome artístico de Sun Ra – sempre recusou o epíteto de profeta ou pai do afrofuturismo.

Contudo, é assim que Sun Ra é percebido por gerações de músicos que se influenciaram pelo som jazzístico e cósmico deste poeta do Alabama (EUA) que ecoava a ancestralidade negra ao mesmo tempo em que experimentava caminhos musicais então inexplorados e transitava pelo terreno da ficção científica.

O legado de Sun Ra reverbera no Brasil. Tanto que a Red hot organization decidiu que um tributo a Sun Ra com artistas brasileiros daria sequência a série Red hot + Ra, iniciada com Nuclear war (2023), disco lançado em 26 de maio.

Programado para 27 de outubro, o álbum Solar – Sun Ra in Brasil elenca BNegão, Edgar, Fabrício Boliveira, Hamilton de Holanda, Max de Castro, Metá Metá, Munir Hossn, Orquestra Afrosinfônica, Orquestra Klaxon, Tiganá Santana e Xênia França em abordagens da obra do fundador da Sun Ra Arkestra.

Idealizado por Béco Dranoff, o tributo Solar – Sun Ra in Brasil ganhou forma com arranjos e produção musical de Xuxa Levy.

O álbum Solar abre com Astroblack Orunmilá, faixa inspirada em Astroblack, título emblemático da obra de Sun Ra. Sob a batuta do maestro Ubiratan Marques, atabaques da Orquestra Afrosinfônica se harmonizam com a voz da norte-americana Jazzmeia Horn.

Em Nature’s god (Sun Ra Sam Ba), o multi-instrumentista brasileiro Munir Hossn vislumbrou Sun Ra sambando nas matas brasileiras em gravação que reúne ogãs (percussionistas das religiões de matriz afro-brasileira) e a rapper de origem alemã Meshell Ndegeocello.

O trio Metá Metá – formado por Juçara Marçal, Kiko Dinucci e Thiago França – e o rapper Edgar se unem na afrocyberpunk Nine rocket for the planet. Na letra, Edgar brada que “tudo que nos resta é um pedaço de floresta”.

Em Where there is no sun, o baiano Tiganá Santana dá voz à poesia afrofuturista em gravação feita com a cantora e compositora Xênia França. Já o tema instrumental Interstellar low ways é o veículo para Hamilton de Holanda reiterar as habilidades no toque do bandolim em trio formado com o percussionista Thiago Rabello e o tecladista Salomão Soares.

Dois poemas de Sun Ra, Código e Eu sou um instrumento, interpretados em português pelo ator Fabricio Boliveira, soam como interlúdios no álbum Solar, encerrado com Brainville dazidéia, faixa que une BNegão, Max de Castro e Orquetra Klaxon. Nesse arremate, BNegão saúda a construção de nova realidade social a partir do som que vem das periferias e quebradas, ecoando a sabedoria ancestral do povo negro.
